Saucepan-free cooker unveiled by Electrolux

A concept home cooker that dispenses of the need for pots and pans has been unveiled by Electrolux.

The Heart of the Home device is a mouldable flat surface that can be pushed and bended to form your cooking utensil of choice. You can adjust the heat and cooking time via touch sensitive panels and move the pan to anywhere on the cooking surface.

Tech we want but can’t get yet

Future Tech: See the gadgets of tomorrow

Judging from the concept video below, you’ll be able to select recipes from a touchscreen, which will provide instructions and automatically monitor the correct cooking time.

There’s a built-in tap and sink too that connects directly to your pan, allowing you to bring that pasta to the boil. The lack of pots and pans also means that washing-up could be limited to just the surface itself.

Electrolux says the concept was designed as part of a drive for energy efficiency, but don’t expect your home carbon footprint to be slashed any time soon. It’s unlikely to be a reality until 2050.
