HP Mini 5102 netbook lands

HP is leading the charge when it comes to computing on the move with the manufacturing giant launching its first-ever touch-enabled netbook – the Mini 5102 at CES 2010.
 

With the boom in popularity of netbooks, manufacturers are looking for new ways to distinguish themselves from the competition and HP is looking to grab the initiative.

As well as the touchscreen capability, the 5102 will also have facial recognition software, Linux based QuickWeb which allows near instant access to Internet and files and  will house Intel’s new Atom processor – the Pineview.
 

Fans of HP will be glad to hear that it has also announced a new touchscreen-enabled laptop, the TouchSmart tm2. This little number will feature a swivel-screen allowing it to turn into a tablet – we like the sound of this.

Prices for the Mini 5102 netbook will start at $399, and $949 for the TouchSmart laptop. UK details will be confirmed shortly.
