Instructions How to Install Android Oreo on OnePlus 5

Now, you can install the update and choose the method depending on your device’s current situation. If your OP5 is running OxygenOS 4.5.14, you can simply use method 1. In case your device has TWRP recovery installed, you can use method 2.

Method 1: Using Local Upgrade

  1. Download the full ROM package from the link Download.
  2. Connect your OnePlus 5 to the PC and enable File Transfer mode.
  3. Transfer the full ROM file to the root of the internal storage. By ‘root’, we mean outside all the folders.
  4. Disconnect the device.
  5. Go to ‘Settings’ -> ‘System updates’.
  6. Tap on the cog (gear icon) on the top-right of the screen.
  7. Select ‘Local upgrade’.
  8. The system will automatically detect the ROM file.
  9. So, tap on the file name and press ‘UPGRADE NOW’.

Your device will reboot into the recovery and install the OnePlus 5 Open Beta 1. Once done, your OP5 will boot into the updated ROM.

Method 2: Using TWRP Recovery

  1. Download the full ROM zip from the link Download.
  2. Copy the downloaded ROM file to the internal storage of your OnePlus 5.
  3. Once copied, disconnect the device and power it down.
  4. Boot your OnePlus 5 into TWRP recovery mode.
  5. [Optional] If you’re coming from a ROM other than OxygenOS, then go to ‘Wipe’ -> ‘Advanced Wipe’. Select the options shown in the image below and wipe the device.
  6. Tap on the ‘Install’ button.
  7. Navigate to the internal storage and select the ROM zip file. Swipe the button on the screen to install OnePlus 5 Open Beta 1 update.
  8. Once the file has been selected, tap on ‘Wipe dalvik/cache’.
  9. Finally, hit the ‘Reboot System’ button.

How to roll-back to stable release

Reverting back to the Official OTA path from the Beta path will require a full install and clean flash (FULL WIPE of all data and cache). Please carefully follow the flash instructions below.

  • Please be aware that all data will be wiped during the revert-back process, so do remember to backup your data in advance.
  • Download the roll-back build provided [HERE] to Internal storage.
  • Shut down your device and enter recovery mode by long pressing the Power + Volume Down key simultaneously.
  • Select “Install from Local” and choose the downloaded build to install.
  • Reboot your device after installing the build. You have to re-enter recovery mode to Wipe data cache and Erase everything(Music, pics, etc).
  • Reboot your device again and you’re all good to go.

OnePlus rolls out OxygenOS 4.5.5 update to OnePlus 5, brings Wi-Fi, voice calling improvements & bug fixes

If you haven’t seen the update on your own device it’s possible to grab the necessary file from the buttons below both in a Full ROM version and just as a link to the OTA file that will update you from v4.5.4 to v4.5.5. In addition to the improvements made to the Wi-Fi connectivity the update also brings along some fixes for things like the Wi-Fi signal displaying as being weak on a consistent basis. Users currently experiencing this particular problem should see it disappear after installing this latest update to OxygenOS, though it should be kept in mind that this is OxygenOS meant for the OnePlus 5 and not for past OnePlus devices. This update also quickly follows the one that was sent out back on June 28th that bumped users up to OxygenOS v4.5.3.

Contacts Fix / Update +91 Issue Resolved

I am facing caller ID issues while working on Sony Xperia  Custom ROMs, To resolve this I tried Gravity Box with Xposed installer but rather than fixing my issue it messed up my contacts…

Then while googling I found these Two very handy applications to fix such issue.. Here’s my take on them…

1) Number Fixer

Number Fixer goes through your contacts and adds/removes prefixes to phone numbers. This is especially useful for Flex Dialer + Google Voice and calling cards that require the area code or country code.

If you find this useful, please support development by buying Number Fixer Donation.

v1.3 – ‘+’ fix, 13 digits for add

This tool is OK but doesn’t necessarily do what we want to achieve here. The process bit confusing and may mess up things…

2) Contact Updater Utility

As the name suggests, Contact Updater is an app that updates your contacts.
The concept and usage scenario is typically found but not available in other applications.
We all add/edit contacts to our phonebook on daily/weekly basis. However, there are chances that you forget to append a country code to the number. Ex – AABBCCDDEEFF
What this potentially means is that you will have to edit that number if you’re outside your home network and append it with a country specific code.

This is where Contact Updater comes handy.
It will search those numbers and append the selected country code.
Hence, you can internationalize your contacts to ensure no last minute changes are required every time.

Usage Scenario Example:
1. You live in India and have a mobile number registered in India.
2. Now, you travel to a foreign country; say “Thailand”.
3. From Thailand, you want to call to number i.e. AABBCCDDEEFF in India.
4. This call will fail.
5. In order to make this call, you need append a country code (+91 in this case) to make a call.

I am very impressed with this application it fixed all the numbers including land-line numbers (Indian numbers, I have not tested any other numbers)

Micromax Canvas HD gets Official Jelly Bean 4.2 Update

Jelly Bean 4.2 Update for Canvas HD A116: Benchmarks and Features Overview Updated

Customers can get the update for their Canvas HD through the company’s sales and service centres. Just like the Jelly Bean update for the A110 Canvas 2, there’s no over-the-air (OTA) infrastructure in place so you’ll have to walk into the store and should ideally get back your handset within a couple of hours. However, MMXnewscaster reports that the update brings OTA support for future updates, so this roundabout way of getting the update for the Canvas HD will ideally end thanks to this update.
