To wrap up our coverage for today, watch Editorial Director Jon Phillips take a quick look at a new hands free camcorder from CountourGPS. The portable, HD-ready camera can be stuck virtually anywhere, (i.e. helmet, gun, etc) and can now synch to your phone to act as a live viewfinder! Pretty intense right? Don’t just take our word for it. Video below!

CES 2011: The Day One Wrap Up

Day one at CES has finally come to a close, and we saw a lot of things out there today. Hopefully you were following along as we shared what we found, but we don’t blame you if you missed a few videos along the way. To help you catch up, here’s a quick rundown of the many things we saw at CES 2011, Day One.

The Major Sights

We brought our very own film crew with us to CES, and they helped us capture some of the most interesting sights on the show floor. Check them out:

The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 and Slate Tablets

Lenovo shows off their shapeshifting tablet/notebook hybrid, as well as their brand new Windows 7 tablet.

Motorola Shows of the Xoom Tablet

Motorola walks us through their new 10.1 tablet, the Xoom.

The Kegputer

NVIDIA combines two of our favorite things–PC Gaming and beer–in one beautiful, unholy machine.

416×234 with html5 and api support

ioSafe Vs. the Shotgun

Senior Associate Editor Nathan Edwards teams up with Mac|Life’s Roberto Baldwin to put ioSafe’s “indestructible” HDD to the ultimate test.

405×287 with html5 and api support

Going Rogue

Fancy video from the film crew is nice and all, but we know that sometimes what you want is just a quick look at what our editors are seeing on the show floor at CES. The following videos were shot guerilla-style, using handheld cams as we walked the floor.

Panasonic Viera

416×234 with html5 and api support

Sharp Quattron

Motorola Atrix 4G

416×234 with html5 and api support

Kitara Digital Guitar

ViewSonic All-In-One PCs

You may have inferred that video was our only prerogative after todays posts; to the contrary! We were sure to take as many snapshots as we could while roaming the mad show floors of CES. LG goes large with it’s 84″ 3D display.

We’re intrigued by Motrola’s new dual-proc phone. It plugs into a dumb laptop looking dock, and essentially turns your phone into a fully functioning laptop. That’s a welcome development in our book.

The guys at Origin had this ostentatious rig on display in Creative’s booth. The system is an overclocked, water-cooled PC on one half, and a water cooled Xbox 360 on the other. This photo is of the Xbox side. The Xbox drive bay has been moved up to the front of the system.

As an aside, the Origin PC guys told us that they’ve been able to achieve 5.0 GHz overclocks with ease on Intel’s next-gen Core i7 2600 part. That’s a good sign.

Just finished a meeting with the USB 3.0 coalition. Interesting stuff. There are now two different controllers with three more pending. The increased data rates is going to permit some interesting possibilities around hooking up external displays.

As an example, this device is capable of running 1080P video over a 9 foot USB cable run. Special versions of the cable – with built in repeaters – will permit even longer cable runs. In a few months, you’ll even be able to run two or three different external video sources off the same controller.

Panasonic shows off the 3D capabilities of it’s displays.

Panasonic shows how it’s displays convert live images to 3D with a sand castle display.

OZZY!!!!

Sony has the bullet-ridden car from the new Green Hornet movie on display in

their CES booth.

Boss Audio Systems gives new meaning to the term “drive in” with this Mercedes.

Tricked out smart car at Re Audio.

Audi’s e-tron garnered a lot of attention.

Fulton Innovations put on an impressive display of electromagnetic-based charging. A small magnetic field on this counter is capable of boiling water, operating a blender, and more…sans cables. It’s totally safe – we were able to place our hands in the field with no harm. The inductive power transmission can occur over distances of 4-6 inches.

Looks like something from the future. Impressive.

An “everyday-use” interactive robot at the Vstone Co., LTD booth.

Aerial 3D shows off it’s system that produces real 3D objects in mid air. The system uses a laser plasma technique without screens.

Ives Behar Autographed GE Residential Wattstation charges electric cars in style.

Modular computer at the Xi3 booth.

Tablets and eReaders displayed at the Marvell booth.

And finally, the Future US booth at CES 2011!
