Rajkumar Hirani has done wonders with the Munnabhai series and after much speculation whether he would be able to churn out a gem out of the acclaimed Chetan Bhagat novel ‘Five Point Someone’, the bindass verdict is finally out!
It’s a stunner!
The movie is about 3 Idiots (Aamir, Sharman and Madhavan) and how they cope up with the competitive world of engineering college with project submissions, assignments, classmates, exams and the khadoos director of I.C.E, Viru Sahastrabudhhe aka Virus (Boman Irani).
The first half is quite enjoyable with humour element thrown in which manages to crack you up at all the right moments. Passing electricity through piss (mutr visarjan), ‘rattu-popats’, butt-cracks, wtf-moments and tear-jerking melodrama, 3 Idiots has it all and does it in style. The best part about the movie is that even though it has too much of it going on, it doesn’t sway from its core message. ‘Aim for excellence, success will follow suit’. However some scenes get a bit of a drag and you wonder whether the length of the movie could have been cut short. The movie deals with a number of issues like the Education System, Suicides, Zabardasti ka pressure to study (we all are a victim of this one) and tackles them effectively.
Aamir Khan is class apart portraying a 22 year old with ease. Sharman and Madhavan excel in their respective roles too. Kareena is just about ok. Boman Irani is a master playing the stereotypical college dean who looks nothing less than a pagal scientist. Music keeps the pace of the movie going and to add to the splendor is the breathtaking cinematography.
All in all 3 Idiots is a perfect anti-dote for movie-buffs who’ve been dying to have a good time in the cinema. So what are you waiting for folks!
Hoth ghumaa.. seeti Baja..seeti Baja ke bol.. Bhaiyya! Aal izz Well!
