Opera Mini app for iPhone

We told you a while back about Opera’s iPhone app coming to the App Store and today we finally got word via a press release on the company’s site letting us know the app has officially been approved by Apple. Opera originally submitted the app on March 23rd and many speculated over whether or not Apple would allow the browser app, which Opera’s own co-founder admitted was against Apple’s policies. The app is already on the iTunes App Store and is available for free for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. However, iPad users will only be able to use it as a classic app and double the pixels as there is no dedicated iPad version of the app as of yet. Below is a video preview of the features of Opera Mini for iPhone and how it differs from the iPhone’s stock Safari browser.

Opera chief executive Lars Boilesen said in the press release posted on the company’s site, “We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini app. This app is another step toward Opera’s goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places.”
