Now I knew this weekend would be Apple and iPad news weekend, but I have tried to staw away from most of it, but this is awesome. A fellow YouTube user THISisCaSpEr bought 3 iPads at a Best Buy in Pittsburgh. Actually he bought all 3 models, the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB (wow $1700 in clip). Here’s where it gets interesting. He decided on smashing the $500 16GB base model iPad with a baseball bat. Well first he decided on dropping it face first onto sidewalk, which I think is the scariest thing for us new iPad owners. He dropped it about chest high and it landed exactly like you think it would land on cement. To my surprise it did not break or crack the giant 9.7 inch glass covered screen.
Next was pretty much pointless and a little immature. They got out the aluminum baseball bat and swung away. It instantly started to shatter and crack. The only other thing I got outta this was seeing the durability of the aluminum body come into question. It looks like it doesn’t take much force to dent the back of the iPad. I mean although it was a baseball bat, it looks like the uni-body aluminum back is fairly thin. I am sure a better dissection will show us more about the strength and durability of the iPad. Just remember to get a case or some protection in the meantime.
