iPhone taking gaming market share from PSP and DS

A report on portable gaming in the US by Flurry Analytics shows that Apple jumped from 5 percent of the market in 2008 to 19 percent in 2009.

That 19 percent is thanks to 5 percent it swiped from Nintendo’s DS (down to 70 percent from 75 percent in 2008) and 9 percent from the PSP (down from 20 percent to 11 percent).

According to Flurry’s Peter Farago, Stateside consumers are downloading iPhone games in droves and it’s that trend that’s also helping to fuel a fall in the home gaming console market.

The home console business saw its share dropping from 79 percent in 2008 to 71 percent in 2009 according to Flurry’s figures.
