Google Street View captures secret SAS base

Google Street View has been criticised for revealing the loacation of the SAS’s secret headquarters, which has previously been left off all maps for security reasons.

Using the service, the entrance to the base can be identified, and a full 360-degree tour can be taken of its perimeter.

The base was included during part of its extension to 95 per cent of Britain’s roads.

Military chiefs have demanded that Google remove the images over fears that it could inform a terrorist attack on the base. However, Google has refused to take them off the site for now.

A study recently revealed that one in five feel that Google Street View is just a service for burglars.
