We first clapped eyes on the INQ Chat 3G back in August, but while the Mini has hit the shops, the Chat has been a bit of a white elephant. No more. We were invited to take a world exclusive first look at the smartphone that wants to give you some of the power of the Androids, BlackBerrys and iPhones but at a fraction of the price. But does the small price mean it scrapes on quality and features?
The company’s first handset to sport a QWERTY keyboard, the Chat feels like a grown–up INQ. As ever social networking is the biggest draw, and the Chat is very Twitter-happy. It also offers a new email client that incorporates free push Gmail, along with an active address book showing ‘live status’ from all of your contacts, letting you choose how to contact them.
There’s also a built-in plug and play HSDPA modem, a 2.4-inch QVGA TFT landscape display, a 3.2-megapixel auto focus camera, GPS and up to 4GB of storage.
